For many of us this was a completely unexpected journey we embarked upon when our children came out; one with a steep learning curve that has put us through the classic stages of grieving and brought us into the light of unconditional love and unequivocal acceptance of these children with a core identity different from our own.

My son said, “If anyone knew who I really was, they would hate me.” These were the same thoughts he had regarding us before he had come out to us. So Wendy and I took on the task of liberating him of that shame.

Mormons to March in 2014 Pride Celebrations

For the third consecutive year, Mormons will be participating in LGBT Pride celebrations to show their support for their LGBT neighbors, friends, and family. Come join the celebration!

New Facebook group specifically for active/believing Mormon parents of LGBT people

There are a lot of groups out there, but this one will be particularly safe for parents who are new to LGBT/SSA issues. It will be monitored carefully, and remain a place for parents who are learning to affirm their LGBT children without losing their religion.

Navigating Unchartered Territory

Talk given by Randall Thacker May 3, 2014 on the banks of the Mississippi River: We stand today at the point of departure where the Saints left Nauvoo and went West into in many ways unknown territory. Yes, there was some charted territory and maps and things, but into an unknown future. I remember when I first came out. I was so afraid of that unknown future, and what it meant for me, my family and my faith. And I know many of you here have gone through that point in life… or maybe are going through it today.
